touching the intangible
I want to wrap it in a silk ribbon, like a gift, and add a lovely little stamp to the envelope. I want to tuck in other small surprises and delights, bits and pieces to inspire. I want to imagine your smile when you open your mailbox at the end of a long day and find a piece of snail mail addressed to you. I want to envision you opening the envelope while curled up on your comfiest chair, in the glow of candlelight, maybe you have a record playing and a mug of tea nearby.
As you touch the paper in your hands, I hope you’ll imagine my own hands touching the very same paper, the intangible imprint of our humanity connecting through time and space via the tangible.
Maybe you’ll think of someone you love while reading the contents, and later you’ll slip the poem into another envelope and send it off to a second receiver. Or perhaps you’ll pin it to the wall beside your bed and read it aloud before sleep or upon waking. Either way, I really just want to send you poetry in the mail… more soon!
