Day 21 : Weekly Reflection
This week was full in many ways and spacious in others. It felt rich with layers, much tenderness and joy.
THIS WEEK’S HAPPENINGS / FOCUS:
- The Artist’s Way Week 8
- Daily shares in the Spiral Library
- Freelance design projects
- School parent evening
- My brother and their partner visited from out of town
- Saturday soup, deep conversation, coziness, laughter, and dancing with family
GLIMMERS:
- Watching C’s eurythmy class. Feeling so grateful that my children get to be nurtured through Waldorf.
- C’s delight in making special Halloween snacks for our family dance party.
- The flexibility of my days. Being able to follow my own creative flow between work projects, rest, creative play, picking up kids from school, and caring for myself.
- Writing my own principles for a creative life and an artist’s prayer
- 21 days of sharing here in my spiral library!
1. What felt energizing, satisfying, or alive this week?
Laughter with my brother and his partner. Big joy. Walking at the waterfront. Group coaching with Natalie and Reiki with Megan, which gave me anchoring and powerful reminders that I couldn’t locate on my own. Consistent daily engagement with my creative practice feels so nurturing in a way I didn’t know I needed so much.
2. What felt draining, forced, or out of sync?
For the third week in a row, I’ve been staying up too late. Also, food feels hard… and worrying about the future and money. And the state of the world…
3. What do I want to remember or carry forward?
“This is a season of remembering the ancient rhythms of soul. It is time to become immense.” – Francis Weller
In every moment, we exist at choice. When the world feels hollow and pointless, cruel and empty, our work is to connect with and expand our inner light. To become bigger than the fear. To become immense.
The only way out is through. Waver with the wind. Anchored at the shore.
Spending the entire day with my family. How they stayed long past the time we planned on. The way we flowed as a group with ease from one conversation to the next, breaking off into smaller groups and coming back together again as a whole. Che read us a Maya Angelou poem as we gathered around the table with steaming bowls of soup. How Cai and Omi listened the whole way through. And when everyone left after laughter and dancing, we let ourselves cry with overwhelmingly big love and gratitude for the gift of the day together.
EXPRESSIONS OF OCTOBER 2025 — TINY DAILY PAINTINGS:
Tender and vulnerable, but less foggy this week. Bright moments of joy.
LISTENED TO: In the Absence of the Ordinary by Francis Weller and the soundtrack to Minari.
WATCHED: So many leaves falling in the windy weather we’ve had. Also, Mad Men... I watched this show for the first time during college and had a nostalgic desire to start season one this week. Not sure it’s the best use of my time, but that could be said for any TV watching.
